Registration of domain UA

On September 15, 2001 the new “Rules of domain UA” were put into effect. In accordance with these Rules Internet users can get addresses of the type MARKA.UA.

Registration of domain UA is effected only in case when the corresponding domain is similar to the registered word mark for products and services (trademark) the rights for using which in Ukraine are confirmed by the certificate of Ukraine for products and services mark issued by the authorized state body (State Patent), by assignment agreement or by the license agreement.

Registration conditions:

Registration of domain UA requires submission of 2 copies of the following documents:

For trademarks registered in Ukraine:

Certificate of Ukraine for the trademark of products and services issued by the central executive body in charge of legal protection of intellectual property.

Assignment agreement or license agreement (if the registrant is not the owner of the Certificate).

For international trademarks:

Extracts from the Official bulletin of World Intellectual Property Organization International Bureau authenticated by the central executive body of Ukraine in charge of legal protection of intellectual property thus confirming the fact of international registration of the trademark and its legal protection on the territory of Ukraine.

The notarized copy of the agreement about transfer of rights for use of the mark on the territory of Ukraine from the trade mark owner to the registrant of domain name (assignment agreement) or license agreement.
