Recommendations on domain name choice

When choosing domain name for corporate site it’s recommended to define first of all what is more beneficial and convenient to reflect in the site name: name of the company itself (in case of well-known brand) or company’s activity. In case of the latter it’s reasonable to choose a name containing the term (key word) characteristic to the company business.

When creating a personal page the name domains are good, i.e. coinciding with the family name (name, login, child nickname etc.) of the site owner. If a site is dedicated to the owner’s hobby then the word reflecting this hobby is preferable.

If you place your site in international domain zones COM, NET and ORG you address your information first of all to the users of English-speaking countries because these zones are mostly popular in such countries. The national domain zone (for Ukraine – UA) shows your origin and specifies the territory for the users of which you orient your site first of all.

If the chosen domain name admits ambiguousness in writing it’s possible to register several variants of such domain writing (including hyphens) with the further redirecting to the main site.
